PLYMOUTH FOAM:
Collaboration with Germany’s Schaumaplast extends geographical reach
Foam manufacturers Plymouth Foam (Plymouth, Wisconsin / USA; www.plymouthfoam.com) and Schaumaplast (Reilingen / Germany;www.schaumaplast.com) have announced a partnership which involves collaborating as a single organisation. The family-owned companies said they will remain independently owned and operated, but will leverage their complementary skills to collaborate as a single company. Plymouth Foam and Schaumaplast complement each other in terms of geography, stakeholder partners and market segments, they said, and they expect the collaboration to accelerate the number and variety of innovations for their mutual customers.
Plymouth Foam focuses on the production of EPS, and announced last month that it was moving into engineered particle foams (EPF), including expanded PP (EPP), expanded PE (EPE) and expanded thermoplastic urethane (E-TPU). Schaumaplast has been operating in the EPS sector for more than 50 years and in EPF for more than 10 years. “When we first met, it was quickly evident that our companies shared similar cultures and core values, but we also possessed very complementary skill sets, said David Bolland, Plymouth Foam’s CEO.
Schaumaplast said it is optimistic about developing new applications in the USA and globally, and the partners have already been sharing ideas on materials, processes and future developments. “With the partnership structure established, our teams are anxious to execute our plans and collaborate for the benefit of our customers, said Schaumaplast CEO Bernhard Hauck.
