An scheduled trip of “Sigmar Gabriel” a “SPD” member and the “Minister of Economy of Germany“, was canceled due to Sigmar’s illness: The German Economical Minister informed his Iranian counterpart “Ali Tayebnia“on the phone when his physicians advised him to stay at home.
According to official reports; “Sigmar Gabriel“, whose scheduled trip to Tehran was canceled due to illness, on a phone conversation with his Iranian counterpart, apologized for being unable to make the visit. The official voiced hope to visit Iran soon and hold the joint economic commission meeting in a near future.
Germany is willing to promote ties with Iran, the official said. “Tayebnia” for his part wished health for his counterpart and said that: “Tehran is committed to enhance ties with Berlin.
Gabriel and Tayebnia agreed to hold a meeting with the participation of their deputies and 400 Iranian and German economic activists on Tuesday May 3rd.
Merkel’s vice-chancellor was expected to co-chair Iran-Germany Joint Economic Commission meeting.
The last joint economic meeting of the two countries at this level was made in 15 years ago and before the great conflicts over the Iranian Atomic Energy Issues. The already canceled meeting also, was scheduled for May 2-4, 2016.
PIMI’s supposition is that the illness of Sigmar Gabriel might have a political background rather than his illness only and Germany’s expectation for watching human rights in Iran as well as acceptance of Israel as a country without any opposition with it at the political battlefields, could have been parts of the stories behind cancellation of the German Economic Ministry’s trip to Iran.
