Today, Sunday May 19th., 2019, the base prices of polymeric and chemical materials were announced for next two weeks until June the 2nd, due to another holiday in next week. However, despite the fact that the prices of polymers were on the decreasing trend but an increase of 4.14% in US$ value resulted in the incremental prices of domestic materials. This, by itself, shows that the PDID Office of NPC which has the power to support the downstream industries of Iran, doesn’t care for its main mission and always is looking for a factor in order to increase the prices of the materials.

Today the discovery price of the US$ for polymer price definition and calculation increased by 4.14% and reached to Rls. 101.735, which is the highest rate since several years and irrespective of the decremented trend of the international prices, the PDID Office decide to increase the base prices for the next two week. In fact the same leap in the market value of the US$ led to a downsizing of the price of polymers at the international level, however the price of raw materials in our country in the week that the entire world experienced a downward trend would reach its highest record. Who works for who? it is now obvious that the PDID Office of NPC is just working for the benefits of the petrochemical companies, but receives its budget for the excuse of supporting downstream industries. this is a treason in PIMI viewpoint.
It is unknown to us that up to which point they can continue their behind the curtain’s struggle on behalf of PC companies and when PDID will decide to base its formula on the right footing. What is clear to us is that they are the true consumers that will pay for these false and manipulated policies of PDID. It seems that, since there is no clear horizon for lowering the value of US$ (at least in the short and medium terms), it is better that the PDID Office think about a new system for its polymer base price calculations.
This weeks incrementalist
This week, prices rose for the two grades of textile PET materials with 7.1 %. These two grades, BG 641 and BG 645, were priced each for Rls. 8,900 and 8,650 / Kg.respectively.
Following these PET fibre grades, the second largest base price growth was given to the PVC group. The group of PVCs faced a 5.1% rise in their last week’s with prices rising from Rls. 3,500 to 3,800 for various grades.
Textile polypropylene was the third commodity that experienced the highest increase in base prices since last week. Some experts rated this polymeric product as having the most potential for price growth, which was not the case.
