The High-Temp. PA is a new grade of bio-based Zytel HTN PolyPhthalAmide (PPA). The high-performance, halogen free and flame-retardant material has been designed for surface mounts technology, connectors and a broad range of electrical components in automotive.
According to DowDupont officials; this material is an alternative to thermosets or more expensive other specialty polymers while maintaining easy processing.
These new grades of Crastin-brand of PBT, which could be coloured in orange for use in high-voltage connectors, have being targeted for the electric and hybrid-electric vehicle markets.
Rudy Van Engen, transportation and advanced polymers sales director said at Fakuma to journalists that: “We’re engaging the whole portfolio in key applications”. He also added; “Transportation, electrical/electronic and health care will be strategic for our growth in the future.”
According to “Van Engen”; Till now, The automotive market has been performing well in this regard”.
Pointing to auto industry he said: “The last two years have been exceptional in terms of growth and We’re seeing more design activity and more lightweighting, along with changing dynamics in e-mobility.”
DowDuPont has recently launched Ahead, a program designed to use DuPont’s materials in future automobiles.
Ahead is focused on lightweighting, battery pack components and assembly, thermal management and safety, electric motors; powertrain and chassis, and electrical and electronics applications.
