Today, Sunday, May 5th., 2019, the PDID Office of NPC announced a new weekly base prices for polymers and other petrochemical products after a week-long interruption.

According to the PIMI reporters and analysts, based on the neww announced base prices, almost all of the polymer materials and goods were massively priced incrementally.
Interestingly, the price increase was somewhat oversimplified in the case of most materials at the price change of the dollar, and it seems that this week, the global and average global prices did not have much to do with discovering the prices of the polymers.
This week the US$ value, that is one of the discovery factors for the base price of polymer materials, was 94.945 Rials, which is the highest value since the beginning of the price calculation based on the “NIMA” system evaluation of FOREX in Iran. This value in comparison with that of April 28th increased by 2.2% in this week for price evaluations till May 12th. As a result, many of the polymer commodities were at the same increasing price level.
Crash of GPPS
Among the falling price changes in price table, compared to last week, there was only one row that belonged to the GPPS 1540. The price of this product decreased by 18.3% compared to its last week’s base price and so was cheaper about Rials 20,000/Kg. and ranged from Rials. 10,957 to 8,950 /Kg., which is a low price drop rarely observed.
Incremental phase
In the price market’s most upward trend, the highest price increase was observed for PE 100 extrusion grade, which recorded a growth of 3.8% which experienced a rise in prices for Rls. 3,850/Kg.
Subsequently, the HDPE film grades and PET 641 and 645 ranked the second in the highest prices’ table, and their base prices grew more than 2.4% compared to the last week.
The lowest price increase was 1.2% for PET grades 821 and 781, which increased their prices by Rls. 1,590 and 1,560/Kg. respectively.
Overall, this week’s price growth of a group of polymeric materials is at an average of 2.2% {the same as the US$ value increase}, with exceptions for a few specific items.
But what happened in the lower part of this week’s prices was something unusual, due to 20% decrease in GPPS, Also despite this decrease and looking to the growing side, observation of other market signals, shows that the buyers in the Iranian stock market do not seem to have a huge footprint on petrochemicals and stop trading in petrochemical products to such an extent that there could be a significant change in the market.

The next table shows the trade price and volumes of commodities on Sat. May 4th., then there are the two conventional price tables of PIMI for last and two weeks ago.

The prices are in Iranian Rials based on the US$ value of 1 US$= Rials 89.579, which is Rls. 1.083 less than the last price evaluation of the 2nd week of 1398 (April 7th- April 28th. at 11:00)
