It is a great regret and sadness that one the most friendly nations in Europe and its warm community have been deeply involved with the pandemic virus of COVID-19. They have suffered a lot and their death toll is the highest after USA. As of today April 17, the total cases involved are: 168,941, total recovered: 40.164 and total mortality: 22.170 (Ref: GOOGLE).
Due to the personal interest of the CEO of PIMI in this area, from the early days of outbreak (Jan. 10th, 2020) we started (with his leadership) to investigate about the 2019-nCov and found that a group of few Iranian missionaries to Wuhan being infected in China, traveled directly from Wuhan to Milan in early Jan. 2020, and since we think that our nation is responsible for spreading the virus (unintentionally) in Northern part of Italy, so we feel it is our duty to look after our Italian friends and nation or pay attention to them more. This is the reason that we have picked up (this time) 3 articles from issue no. 463 of macplasonline weekly newsletter. And before paying attention to the first article, we wish and pray and are sure that as the same as raising Italy from the ashes of World War II, once again, they will defeat this exported virus to their country. Now, the first article;
The Biesse Group continues to provide tangible support for the local fight against Covid-19. Following a donation for the purchase of technology to help the most critical patients and a fundraising campaign, the manufacturing departments are also being recruited, specifically the unit that handles additive manufacturing.
Designers, who usually use a 3D printer for batch production and to create prototypes for Biesse’s tech solutions, have been perfecting a prototype for the production of personal protective equipment to be donated to Ospedali Riuniti Marche Nord. Specifically, visors are being manufactured to provide important protection for the mouth and eyes by shielding the whole face against infection, thereby protecting doctors, nurses and all healthcare workers.
The frame for the visor is 3D printed by Biesse, while the protective transparent visor is manufactured by Axxembla, a unit owned by the group that usually produces the protective coverings for machines. Machining operations have been entrusted to a Rover Plast A FT, Biesse’s solution for machining advanced materials.
“We immediately offered to use our 3D printer to help with the health emergency and checked which of the products that hospitals need most, due to current market shortages, we would be able to produce. We decided to manufacture and donate the visors to Ospedali Riuniti Marche Nord to offer tangible support for those who are on the front lines of the fight against Covid-19 every day”, stated Roberto Selci, Biesse Group CEO.
“We monitored all the devices produced with 3D printers online, in order to put our competencies and technology at work in the service of those who are battling the virus directly”, added Michele Tombari, director of the relevant mechanical technology centre.
