According to PIMI’s Russian corespondent, the prices of polymers are increasing in Russia. Please read the news:
In January the largest European and Asian producers declared increase in prices for polymers. It occurred despite seasonally low demand and falling of cost for initial raw materials. The Russian producers used weakening of ruble and raised the prices, thanks to what export became more active. In the long term it can result in deficiency of raw materials in the domestic market.
Deficiency of “Low-density polyethylene” (LDPE) happened in January, as reports “Plastinfo”, having led to an agiotage round a warehouse of Kazanorgsintez. Served as the reasons the price increase planned for February at the largest producers, lack of shipment for the Russian consumers from Angarsk polymer plant and “Gazprom neftekhim Salavat”, and also reduction of output on “Tomskneftekhim”.
LDPE cost in a month increased by 4,75%. Despite this LDPE remains to the cheapest among polymers. However there are all prerequisites for further increase in cost.
The prices of “High-density polyethylene” (HDPE) for January increased slightly, for only 0,24%. The cost of the HDPE extrusive brands was established cheaper than the molding.
The price of “Polypropylene” (PP) increased on average by 2,03%. At the same time, sellers by the end of January had low sales volumes of the majority of brands of polypropylene.
The prices of “Polystyrene” (PS) raised by 2,96%. High impact polystyrene traditionally more expensively than PS of general purpose, but now the difference between them is small.
The prices of “Polyvinyl Chloride” (PVC) for January raised by 1,66%, generally because of increase in selling price of Asian pitch.
The prices of “Polyethylene Terephthalate” (PETE) in February remain high. In comparison with other polymers, the Russian PETE rose in price for January for 7,81%, thereby having reduced a gap with import PETE.
