Following the results of 2015 the total production of “Polypropylene” (PP) in Russia grew by 23% in comparison with a similar indicator of 2014 and made 1,275 million tons.
The serious gain of operational performance was shown by “Tobolsk Polymer” and “Neftekhimia” (Kapotnya), as reported in the review of the company “Market Report”.
The maximum gain was provided by the largest producer of Polypropylene in Russia – “Tobolsk Polymer” (“Sibur”). For last year the total output of Polypropylene reached the level of 378,9 thousand tons – 43% more, than in 2014.
The second for total output is “Nizhnekamskneftekhim” which let out Polypropylene of 213,2 thousand tons that is actually equal to an indicator of 2014.
In the three of leaders also “Poliom” (“Titan Group”) – production of Polypropylene at the enterprise reached the level of 191,2 thousand tons.
Some enterprises showed good growth rates of production.
“Stavrolen” (“Lukoil”) last year increased production of Polypropylene by 2,5 times (109,6 thousand tons). However, such gain was reached because of technological idle time of the enterprise within 5 months 2014.
“Neftekhimia” (Kapotnya) increased production of PP in 2015 on 17%: the total output made 117,7 thousand tons. Such gain was reached due to work within a year without stops on prevention.
“Tomskneftekhim” (“Sibur”) in 2015 made 137,6 thousand tons of polypropylene, that is 9% more in comparison with 2014.

Production of PND in Russia: results of 2015
The Russian producers in 2015 increased volumes of production of the “Polyethylene of Low Pressure” (PLP) by 11% in comparison with an indicator of 2014 to 904 thousand tons. At the same time there were serious structural changes in the product range which will have consequences and in 2016, as reported in the Annual Review “Polyethylene in Russia-2015″.
The existing capacities for release of PLP are superfluous, and taking into account expectations of further reduction of demand, there are more and more actual questions on optimization of production and import substitution at the Russian producers.
The main gain of operational performance provided “Stavrolen” (“Lukoil”) which resumed the work in April, 2015 after the long compelled stop in February, 2014. Besides, the range of the made PLP was seriously corrected, and this factor will have impact and on indicators of 2016.
The enterprise refused production of pipe HDPE. All efforts are focused on film and blow molding HDPE brands.
The largest Russian producer of polyethylene – “Kazanorgsintez” – last year increased capacities for production of black pipe HDPE by 30%. Total power on production of this polyethylene (PE) reached 240 thousand tons per year. In addition the enterprise since February, 2016 completely will refuse production of natural PLP – the PE2NT11-285D brand. The Polyethylene this brand was used both in production of pipes, and in production of films, and was especially demanded during the summer period.
”Nizhnekamskneftekhim” in 2015 reduced production of PLP. It will be reflected in the general situation in the summer – in the period of a great demand on PLP and stops on planned prevention of several productions.
“Gazprom neftekhim Salavat” is focused on production of pipe PLP, and also adjusted release of polyethylene composition for a covering of steel pipes of big diameter. Also the enterprise doesn’t stop trying to be fixed in a segment of film and blow molding HDPE brands.
