After announcement of this week’s new base polymer prices by the PDID office of NPC, we saw a sharp decline in the price of the extrusion grade of HDPE on the day of low volatility in the base prices. If we go through just one grade of emulsion PVC, no commodity group would have more than 1% price fluctuation, except for different extrusion grade types of HDPE, which, despite market observers’ predictions and forecasts, suffered relatively serious declines.
New base prices for polymer materials were announced this week on the basis of the US dollar increased average value by about 0.65%. This increase rate rose the US$ value for the calculation basis to Rls. 109.709. At the same time, the global markets experienced more stability.
Overall, most prices seemed to rise this week, which was the case, but a number of polymer commodities also experienced a decline, at least some of which was due to global price stability and the rise in the dollar’s price.
Incremental strain:
While PVC prices have risen sharply following the rise in false demand for this commodity in the Iranian domestic market, this week again we saw a rise in the price of this commodity.
This week, the PVC emulsion grade E6834 base price had an increase of 3.13% in its base price, making it the highest base price increase among other polymer materials for this week. This price increase led to the its price reaching to Rls. 83.948/ Kg.
The other increases recorded for;
1- ABS group with 1.23% reaching its price to Rls. 135.234 / Kg.,
2- PVC suspension group with 1.16% with the highest price of Rls. 79.83 for PVC S65.
3- The other commodities like different types of PS, rotational grade of HDPE and PP at the incremental side experienced about 0.78% increase.
Downward direction:
In the downtrend, we can see;
1- HDPE grade PE 100 black that fell sharply by 2.33%;
2- HDPE 80 extrusion grade that declined by 1.55% and reaching to Rls. 88.944 Rials.;
3- HDPE extrusion fell 1.44% reaching to Rls. 88.944.
Conclusion:
In overall, the price change for most grades and types of polymers was not large enough to play a role in this week’s trading volume. In principle, the attractiveness of the polymer market, moving towards the end of the year, seems to be getting more attractive every week, where macroeconomic factors are not affected.

One of the noticeable points for this week was that, although this week the total amount of trading volume recorded this year’s figures, but the number of bids was also surprising. The anxiety about the increasing value of the US$ resulted in higher than needed materials both by brokers and real consumers. At the week for Dec. 1-7th., a total number of 171 bids was performed at the IME hall out of which only 154 bids were successful.

The highest number of bids with 39 times recorded for diverse types of PP.
