On Thursday March 31st., a delegation composed of 70 Iranian companies heading by Mr. Mohsen Jalal-Pour, the President of the Iran Chamber of Commerce Industry, Mines & Agriculture “ICCIMA”arrived in Vienna in order to participate at the “Iran-Austria Economic Conference”.
This event which had previously been scheduled as an Iranian Official Trade Delegation heading by the Iranian President Dr. Hasan Rouhani, later cancelled by the request of the Iranian side due to security measures after threats to the Europe by “ISIL”.
On this occasion and in an interview with the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation”ORF”, the Austrian President Mr. Heinz Fischer regretting of the delayed visit of the President Rouhani to Vienna, told the media:
“The postponed visit of the Iranian president will take place during next Austrian president’s term of office”
President Rouhani was due to visit Austria on March 30-31 but the visit was postponed to be “made in an appropriate time later upon mutual agreements in order to make further security arrangements”
Noting that Tehran and Vienna consider the visit highly important and valuable for the two countries, Prsident Fischer confirmed:
“If security concerns were mentioned as the reason for postponing the visit, it was a decision made by Tehran, said the Austrian president stressing he believed no security concerns were existed”. President Fischer then added he assumed the visit is not cancelled, but postponed to be made sometime maybe in the next Austrian president’s term of office.”
Irrespective of the postponing of the Iranian President’s visit due in Vienna, the Iranian delegation followed the planned schedule for and participated at the Iran-Austria Economical Conference kept on Thur. March 31st 2016.
At the position of the new head of this high level Iranian trade mission, Mr. Mohsen Jala-Pour spoke at the conference and said:
“Austria enjoys a special status in Iran’s policies towards European countries and undoubtedly, Austria’s capacities in economic, financial, industrial and agricultural sectors have been quite effective in helping the country to achieve such a high status” Later adding: “But more important, it has been the positive stance of the country towards Iran in its interactions with the country during the past few decades, that has given it its current status”.
According to the news received by PIMI from the CEO of an Austrian Company which had joined the Conference, the Iranian delegate and their Austrian Counterparts have signed several trade MOU’s and agreements in different sectors.
