On Aug. 4th, 2019, in a meeting on the occasion of health and safety issues with the city’s council, the Governor of Khorramshahr city said that: “The health council should approve a draft in order to prohibit the distribution of the foods in plastics containers and instead the food products be distributed in containers that in Iran are famous to “Plant Dishware”
Before going further, we (as the duty of an independent media) have to insist that due to lack of knowledge of many officials, even in the “Environmental Organization of Iran”, the officials speak about something that they don’t have any knowledge about it. The containers that most officials and private and public media speak about it are made of a mixture of 50-60% PE or PP plus some imported corn starch and honey wax and other additives. The main problem in this regard is that by paying bribes the producers of this kind of dishware ask from the standard approved laboratories not to measure and report the amount of heavy metals in these materials. In fact this part of converting industry is successful via bribing the most officials or are using the lack of their knowledge. In this regard we can see that not only the health of the people is under danger by using these products but also due to the additives and other particles within the formulation of these materials their natural destruction in the environment is less probable in comparison with containers made of pure polymers.
Returning to the main point, if suppose that what the Governor has said is due to his interest to the country and the health of the community, however he is speaking about something that he has no personal knowledge about it. So why should a Governor speaks about a scientific and technical subject that is by no means within his duties.
Kourosh Mavvedat, the Governor of the Khoramshar city, in his speech about the plastics containers said: ” The disposable plastic containers are one of the main factors of cancer and its production should be stopped”.
Such false and out of facts speeches by the officials are a great danger for the downstream industries, and it is 20 years that the PIM Publication Group is fighting with it.
We will write about it more in future.
