Today’s prices were almost stable for many grades at the free market, though, for some few grades the market experienced very high increases in comparison with the official prices determined for this week’s trades at the IME‘s petrochemical hall.

The highest deviation from the official prices could be observed for almost all types of suspension grades of PVC, some grades of PP and few grades of PET that alerts for a crisis in next few days for PVC, PP and PET materials.

An increase of sometimes more than 10% from the base prices, which for example could be seen for some grades of PP shows that the price fluctuations for the polymer materials has other additional reasons than only market manipulation or added value for the US$ prices. One of the main reasons could be using the old machines with the old, and needed to be maintained, moulds which in turn could be adjusted very hard when there will be a small change in the materials’ characteristics. This in turn is related to higher demands for the materials that becomes famous among the converters as a “Good” material. Do we have the “Bad” material at all? or it is the lack of knowledge and the old machines and techniques?
