As it was foreseen in the former market analysis of PIMI (CLICK HERE) the uncontrolled bottle grade of PET resulted in a high demand inflation and so the market at the last week of July faced with high competition at this market. The following is a short analysis of declining in DST (Demand, Supply, Trade) figures for the Iranian polymer market.
An expert for “Iran Mercantile Exchange” (IME) says to PIMI that: “At the last week of July the market experienced very low boom market which in comparison with the former week faced with decreasing in all indices of this market”.
The amount of supplies had a continuous decrease and recorded 7793 tons of less offers by the petrochemical units, and so a new record of lower supply of about 11000 tons for the two consecutive weeks registered for the market. At the same period, the trade volume decreased by 3091 tons which is equal to 6% decline and another decrease record of about 7000 tons for the last two continuous weeks.
However, totally 68% of what was offered was purchased by brokers which shows a 3% increase with comparison to the former week.
Table 1, shows the DST figures for the last two weeks of July (16th-23rd and 23rd – 29th, 2017):

The total offers composed of 86 diverse grades of polymers, out of which 29 grades were dealt with. The competition percentages also varied between 1-11%, and demands showed higher decline of more than 14000 tons which shows low interests in production and more attitude for trade in materials free market.
The highest decline in offers recorded for HDPE group for pipes and other extrusion needs with 6474 less supply. The LDPE film grade also showed a decrease of 2018 tons, whereas PVC group faced with 1156 tons of lower supply.
In comparison, the LLDPE group was offered more than other polymers with extra supply of 1080 tons, after which the textile grade of PP recorded for 1068 tons and PP injection grade with 975 tons after it.
The most wanted polymer registered for grade EPS 200 of Tabriz PC, and ZB332C PP and injection grade of LDPE stood after it respectively.
Inflammation of the bottle grade of PET which was warned about it at the last PIMI report could be considered as the most important polymer market news of the last week, and 5 grades of PET stood among the 15 most wanted polymers at the last week of July.
The following table and chart, shows the figures for last week’s market demands for polymers:
