Not related to the context of this Channel, but, Iran-US conflicts is very important for the regional business, including Oil and Petrochemicals. In this regard the PIMI Editorial team (in Iran) approved for publication of this article sent directly by Dr. Rajab Safarov (a long time friend of PIMI Founder) to Dr. Saatnia. Dr. Safarov believes that by Russian’s near future action, there will be no US domination in the Persian Golf.
Until the end of this year, the Russian-Iranian naval exercises will be held for the first time in our history in the Strait of Hormuz. The Americans are already feeling the approaching skin of the end of their voluptuous and completely uncontrolled presence in the Persian Gulf. Joint Russian-Iranian naval exercises presuppose at least deep interaction between the parties and this brings the cooperation of the naval forces and military-technical ties between the two states to a new qualitative level. This means that the Russian concept of collective security in the Persian Gulf zone is beginning to really work.
The United States is so carried away by its sanctions policy that it is already striking against its interests and those of its partners around the world. As you know, it was the Americans who provoked a new round of tension in the Persian Gulf zone, asking their loyal partner Great Britain to detain the Iranian oil tanker in Gibraltar. Naturally, Iran regarded this as an act of state terrorism and two weeks later detained a British tanker in its territorial waters, as Iranian officials said, for violating safety rules in the Strait of Hormuz, which resulted in a collision with a fishing boat.
Following this, Donald Trump came up with the initiative to create another coalition, this time to ensure the safety of shipping in the Persian Gulf and called on Europeans and Arab countries to join this coalition. For some reason, the Americans did not invite such an important local player to this coalition as Iran, which by its geographic and natural location has the longest coastline in the Persian and Oman gulfs, and just the safest and most effective access routes to the world’s oceans precisely on its territory. The Americans also did not invite Turkey, Russia and China.
Based on this, it would be more logical to call this American initiative the United States Gulf Control Organization. Europeans immediately realized the futility of this idea and refused to participate with the exception of Great Britain, which by its consent completely compromised the US initiative and turned it into a purely small-town, banal Anglo-Saxon idea.
The Arab countries of the Persian Gulf understand that they want to make cannon fodder from them and, by and large, are not interested in further escalating tensions in this zone, which carries a real danger not only of stopping all shipping, but there is also a high probability of the complete destruction of the entire oil and gas industry and petrochemical infrastructure throughout the region. Iranian President Rouhani recently announced publicly: either all countries in the region will sell oil or no one!
And the Russian Concept of Collective Security in the Persian Gulf, on the contrary, compares favorably with the fact that security is offered, first of all, at the expense of the states of this region itself, and other interested states may be in the rank of observers in this international structure.
According to Sergey Lavrov, the Russian Concept objectively takes into account the current situation and fundamental interests, first of all, of the countries of this region. It is based on the principles of creating a single anti-terrorist structure, eliminating hotbeds of terrorism and extremism in the Middle East, taking measures to build confidence and providing mutual security guarantees, with unconditional respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the countries of the region.
One of the key ideas of the Russian concept is the real application of the nuclear non-proliferation regime in the Middle East, based on the principles of the NPT, the transformation of the Middle East into a zone free of weapons of mass destruction. To this end, the immediate holding of an international conference on security and cooperation in the Persian Gulf is proposed.
The American idea of controlling the region is a failure, and the Russian Concept of Collective Security in the Persian Gulf, on the contrary, begins its triumphal march, and more and more supporters are gaining strength every day. The planned first Russian-Iranian naval exercises in this region is the first bell in establishing control over US actions and soon to completely push them out of this strategically important region for world security.
