According to the announcements of the Ministry of Industry, Mining and Trade, the ban on exports of 5 ranges of commodities related to bottle production, including PET preforms, was lifted.
Referring to PIMI reporter, in a letter to the Iranian Export Customs Office, the IMT Ministry announced the export of five commodities including PET preforms, are allowed.
The story clicked when in late July, Mohammad Shariatmadari, the former Minister of IMT and the chairman of the Task Force on Market Regulation, wrote a letter to “Foroud Assargi” the chief of the customs office on the issue of banning the export of PET due to the requirements of PET bottles for manufacturers of the milk, vegetable oils, beverages, juices, mineral water, detergents, dish-washing liquids and washbasins, and other products’ industries, and due to the shortage of PET preforms used for bottle production, it is appropriate to declare to all the factories that exporting of PET preforms will be prevented by all exporters, whether manufacturers or trading companies.
Although the ban was not stopped during the whole period from August to the present year, and both PET materials and PET preforms were sent to smugglers, especially to the neighboring countries, but the announcement of this decision and the permission of exporting PET materials and preforms will be another strike over the body of the country’s drinking and food industries, which the final consumers have to pay for it.
IMT officials have apparently come to the conclusion that, given the passing of summer time and the holly months of Ramadan and Muharram, which is the peak season for PET bottles consumption, demand has now diminished significantly, resulting in issuance of new notices to the customs office. But the perception that the PET crisis of preform are over, is basically nonsense.
For that matter, maybe no document is better than Iran Stock Exchange deals! While the volumes of transactions in recent weeks have been steadily declining, for example, last month the volume of trade in polymer products dropped by more than 25% compared to last week, but not only has not been a decrease in PET bottle grades.
