A giant wheel, which has a diameter of 1,74 meters, is taking center stage at Huntsman’s stand at K this week – demonstrating the flexibility and durability of the company’s range of hot cast elastomers at hall 8a.
Räder Vogel, one of the world’s largest producers of industrial wheels and castors, produced the enormous wheel using one of Huntsman Tecnoelastomeri’s TECNOTHANE® hot cast engineering elastomers.
Manufactured for demonstration purposes, the wheel showcases the scale of engineering that can be achieved using Huntsman’s TECNOTHANE® elastomers. The wheel forms part of RAEDER-VOGEL’s PEVOTEC® range of wheels and castors, which are designed to operate in extreme operating environments and carry incredibly heavy loads at a wide range of temperatures.
RAEDER-VOGEL and Huntsman Tecnoelastomeri have worked together for more than twenty years. Together they have created wheels that have an incredibly high load capacity and wear resistance. Typical applications for RAEDER-VOGEL’s PEVOTEC® range includes foundry manipulators; transport trailers; offshore grippers; and mining equipment including roof bolters, shuttle cars and load haul dump vehicles. PEVOTEC® wheels can also be used as guide wheels for mining shaft lift systems.
During K, Huntsman will also be promoting the wider range of PU elastomers that it produces, which are pivotal to the performance of a variety of products. Core areas of expertise include elastomer systems for electric and electronic encapsulation; modeling, tooling and prototyping (MTP); synthetic leather production; and noise vibration dampening (NVD) applications.
