gwk Presents Design Study for Temperature Control Units of the Future
At K 2016, gwk Gesellschaft Wärme Kältetechnik mbH presented the design study for a new, universal temperature control unit.
According to the manufacturer, the successor to the teco cs series is intended to meet the key criteria that globally surveyed fabricators demand of universal temperature control units for general purpose applications.
The aim is to provide sophisticated but affordable technology with a modern industrial design, which has good availability, is easy to use, is service-friendly and customizable, and is also adaptable in stages for the comprehensive process monitoring and requirements of Industry 4.0.
As part of the “Temperature Control Unit” project, the first model of the series, of which are to be available from mid-2017, is a 95°C water version, which can be used worldwide for 75% of all injection molding applications with standard plastics, introduced Helmut Gries, Director of Sales and Marketing.
“We see the demand for the new generation of units primarily in the international growth markets, but also among thoroughly demanding but price-oriented customers in Europe. Furthermore, there are a large number of application areas outside the injection molding industry. Mind you, the new temperature control unit will not be a cheap item, but a sophisticated, state-of-the-art temperature control unit incorporating our new 32-bit controller, which in the advanced version will be Industry 4.0-compatible.”
Fundamental features of the basic version include microprocessor control with the display of target and actual temperatures, automatic top-up, automatic mold draining, energy-saving heating control and much more.
Customization options include various interfaces, customized colors and labeling, roller-mounting, rubber buffers or rails and other useful items. The design study presented at K 2016 has a heating output of 9kW, an indirect cooling system with a cooling output of 23kW at 15/90°C coolant/ambient temperature and a sealless submersible pump with a maximum throughput of 60L/min.
