Iran Statistic Center announced that inflation rate for urban areas in the month of Bahman (January 21 – February 19) fell to11.8%, showing a drop of 0.4% as compared to the same period last year. The point to point inflation rate in that period reached 8.9% with a decrease of 0.6%, it added.
Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs Ali Tayyebnia announced Saturday that the point to point inflation rate of 44% in the past year has dropped to 9.6% this year and now the producer inflation is below 10% and the rate of monthly producer inflation rate is close to zero, i.e. production costs have no pressure on the economy.
Stressing that the main orientation of the government is gaining access to constant and sustainable economic growth for coming out of recession, Tayyebnia noted that when the new government started its administration it was faced with a complicated recession accompanied by inflation.
Under such circumstances, he added, the principled policy of the government was aimed at confronting stagnation, improving the economy and achieving constant economic growth.
He also put the average yearly inflation rate which was 40% in the month of Mehr 1392 (September/October 2013) at 13.2% in the month of Dey 1394 (December 2015/January 2016) and the point to point inflation at 10% and 9.6% in the months of Azar and (November/December) and Dey respectively.
