Iran: $100mn For advancement Of AI Applications

According to news for media, Iran has launched an initiative to boost the applicability and development of artificial intelligence (AI) by committing $100 million in funding, according to the Communications and Information Center of the Iranian Vice Presidency for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy (ISTI).

 

The groundbreaking move follows the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement between the Vice Presidency and the Iranian National Development Fund (NDF)

It marks the beginning of a new chapter in supporting knowledge-based companies and aligns with Iran’s 2025 vision and the slogan of the year.

During the signing ceremony for funding negotiations, Hossein Afshin the Vice President for ISTI (front page image) explained that it is the result of six months of negotiations between the two Governmental offices.

He emphasized the government’s focus on empowering innovative companies through diverse financial models and facilitating their access to credit facilities. 

Meanwhile, Mehdi Ghazanfari, (right image) the head of the National Development Fund, highlighted the importance of establishing effective frameworks to enhance AI utilization and foster innovation, adding that: “traditional governance methods have hindered productivity in this sector and underscored the need to adopt new strategies.”

Ghazanfari announced the creation of a joint fund to provide repeated financial support to innovative companies, ensuring long-term sustainability. 

He also reiterated the fund’s commitment to supporting advancements in AI and the oil sectors as crucial drivers of economic progress.
