The Information and Communications Office of Iran’s Vice Presidency for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy has reported that: “Iran has developed and begun to commercialize production of advanced devices for bronchoscopy, which is another breakthrough towards self-reliance in medical equipment and device manufacturing.
The domestically manufacturing of diagnostic devices, that could be used to examine patients’ airways and lungs, are now being deployed in hospitals across the country.
The knowledge-based bronchoscope was designed and manufactured by Ordibehesht Novin Health Technology Company with support from government science and health agencies.
According to Ehsan Sabeghiniya, CEO of Razavi Advanced Industries, which financed the project, 50 of the devices have already been produced and delivered to medical centers after passing rigorous quality tests.
“These bronchoscopes meet all international standards and have received full certification from Iran’s Medical Equipment Administration,” Sabeghiniya said.
He emphasized that local production will reduce dependence on foreign imports, lower costs, and improve after-sales service for hospitals.
The achievement comes as Iran faces economic sanctions that have complicated the import of medical technology among other items.
Bronchoscopes are essential diagnostic tools that allow pulmonologists to visually examine lungs and airways using a thin, flexible tube equipped with a camera and light source.
