Iran Launches Phase I of Major Condensate Refinery
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani officially launched the first phase of a major natural gas condensate refinery project in the southern province of Bushehr.
The project adds 12 million liters of Euro-4 gasoline to Iran’s daily production capacity, rendering the country needless if importing gasoline.
Construction of the refinery began in 2006 under the severest sanctions on Iran’s key economic sectors.
Once fully operational, it will supply 36 million liters of quality petrol which makes Iran an exporter of the strategic item.
Besides, it will supply 14 ml/d of gasoil and 3.37ml of jet fuel when having reached full production tilt.
The facility is fed by gas condensate (ultralight crude oil) recovered from the supergiant South Pars Gas Field.
Iran shares the field with Qatar in Persian Gulf waters.
