Iranian Polymer Market Decline in Supply, Demand and Trade Volume

Little increase in the value of US$ for base price calculation of the last week’s market (US$ changed from 37.700 to 37.730 Rials, about 1 cent increase) resulted in 0.05% up to 1.8% increase in prices of different polymers. The only decrease in price recorded for LLDPE by – 0.1% (22 Rials) and other polymer prices bouncing between 0.0% to 1.8% increase.

Notice: Increasing in the grade number, diversity, and sub-grades, also very high fluctuation and fast daily changes in prices of polymers in the Iranian market and another survey run by the editorial team, ended to the conclusion that we should stop (at least for a while) publishing this weekly market news in previous format. So from this week we will try this new format and will present you with a short analysis and the image of the latest changes in the free market, on a daily basis. Hoping this will be more convenient for our viewers in the 5 continents of the world.

The Market: Last week, the polymer market encountered about 8% decline by 4311 less trade volume. Even the total volume still remained above 45000 tons and more than 65% of the supplies were purchased (3% less than two weeks ago) and 27 out of 85 offered grades. At the same period there was a high increase in demand decline by more than 16000 tons, also the offered volume had a 3588 decrease in comparison to last week.

Whereas, increase in supply was almost last week, the highest decline in supply belonged to the PVC group by 2320 tons, which was due to lack of supplies for suspension grades 57 & 60 of PVC, also the LLDPE with 1630 tons and film grade of HDPE with 1540 tons faced with lower supply.

Considering competitive supplies, it is several weeks and months that two PP grades of ZR230C AND ZB332C have always been faced with about 10% higher competitive prices. Both grades are used for production of pipes and fittings and usually have been traded with unfair competitive between black market and true producers. A weak point for production planning at three petrochemicals.
