Today, Sunday, Sept. 16th 2018, at the same time as the Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade announced that: The maximum competitive ceiling of petrochemical products should be lifted, the PDID Office of NPC announced the new prices of polymers and related chemical materials for trading at “IME“.
At this week’s price list, only the HDPE grade PE 100 was the only material with increasing price. Other items faced with small or modest changes were few polymers, and part of the polymer materials were also reduced by 1.0%. The most important items that were faced with a one percent reduction were all grades of PET and all grades of the PVC group.
Basically and practically base prices announced for this week will have no effect on polymer market, as by removing the competitive ceiling it is expected that commodities will suffer a relatively significant increase prices in stock exchanges as the US$ exchange values base is still based on 42,000 Rials/US dollar. This definitely will raise the prices because of a hidden subsidy for those who have higher purchasing power for re-selling it to the small and medium size converting companies and factories.
PIMI analysts predict that this new policy of the IMT Ministry will defeat very soon and of course another round of shut downs would be observed very soon.
The following table shows the new prices for this week ending to Sept. 23rd.
