A member of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce said the development of Iran’s petrochemical industry in the calendar year of 1397 (which ends on March 21st) has been impressive despite certain problems, arising from US-Iran dispute.
Speaking to reporters, Seyyed Mohammad Hossein Shariatmadar, vice chairman of the Energy Committee of Tehran Chamber of Commerce, described the year as the year of a leap in the petrochemical industry, adding construction of several petrochemical projects under the sanctions and economic difficulties was indicative of the progress of the industry.
He said that the sector played a key role in realization of the goals of resilient economy in Iran, adding the industry created jobs and bolstered the value of national capital by completing the value chain.
Shariatmadar emphasized that the development of the petrochemical industry brought about huge benefits for the country’s economy, adding that the further development of the petrochemical industry, in addition to preventing export of crude oil, will provide the downstream materials for strengthening national production and economic development of the country.
In another news, it has been claimed that: Jam Polypropylene Company struck a new production record on March 10 by operating at 118% of its nameplate production capacity.
According to the plant’s public relations, Bahman Behzadi, vice chairman of the board of directors of the company, said the company supplied 1,066 tons of propylene on March 10, the highest output for the company in ten years.
Behzadi appreciated the company’s leadership and staff for striking such a production record, saying the company is now touted as the largest producer of polypropylene in Iran.
The official further said that the plant was built for 909 tons/day of propylene, while its output was 157 tons more than its installed capacity on the day.
Jam Polypropylene Company (JPPC) was established in 2004 at Pars Special Economic Energy Zone in Assalouyeh, southern Iran.
The company produces various grades of polypropylene under the “JAMPILEN” trademark. The company can supply up to 300,000 tons of petrochemicals annually.
