During this week (Dec. 30th, Jan. 4th.) though there were some unrest in some areas of Iran (not disclosed well) the trading of petrochemicals continued and was not diversely affected neither by the riot news nor by fast increasing the value of US$ exchange rate at the market. This analysis shows how the market faced even with a growth of about 7.875 tons in volume and 473.173 million Rials in value.
This week, though there was the new year’s week and many Christian Iranians (Armenians mainly that are also involved in plastics industry’s machine manufacturing were closed for their new year’s holiday), and when the unrest started, the free market value of US$ was around 42110 Rials and gradually increased up to 43.910 Rials. (Ref: IME website)There was a suggestion that may be due to both concurrent the market would be declined. But this didn’t happen, may be due to fears of further increase in the price of foreign currencies and also lack of enough offers and supplies for some grades. In this regard 39 commodities were sold at the competitive prices (shown by red letters at the following table).
Furthermore due to limitations in the social media the control of the free market was practically not possible.
