The Dow Chemical Company, through its Packaging & Specialty Plastics (P&SP), Elastomers, and Electrical & Telecommunications businesses, highlights numerous investments in new capacity to meet the growing global demand for polyethylene (PE) and other specialty materials.
This includes the Sadara joint venture (JV) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia that will support growth in fast growing regions in Eastern Europe, Turkey, the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific, along with new projects on the US Gulf Coast that are designed to support growth in the Americas.
“We are committed to helping our customers grow with an increased supply of leading polyethylene products in addition to world-class innovation,” said Diego Donoso, Business President, Dow Packaging & Specialty Plastics. “Sadara and our Gulf Coast projects will enhance Dow’s global footprint to bring us closer to our customers with high performing raw materials that support innovation and growth.”
In addition, the company has strategically established seven Pack Studios around the world in Brazil, Italy, China, Singapore, Switzerland, and the US. This global network of packaging experts aim at accelerating collaboration for sustainable packaging solutions.
“For us, behind every innovation there is a story of the people who have worked hard to bring that idea or growth opportunity to life. This is what we will be highlighting at K 2016 – the Face of Innovation,” commented Donoso, Business President for Dow Packaging and Specialty Plastics. “Dow’s R&D experts, our Pack Studios innovation centers, and Technical Services & Development leadership means that Dow is able to collaborate with our customers to develop solutions that meet consumer preferences.”
Addressing the need for improved conversion efficiency, packaging efficiency and sustainability, Dow’s new AGILITY EC performance resins have been developed to challenge current packaging performance limits. The new family for the extrusion coating (EC) market brings performance benefits in output, mechanics, optics and flexibility, expanding Dow’s current family of AGILITY resins to make faster and lighter coatings.
