Today, Sunday July 22nd 2018, the PDID office of NPC in accordance with its mission, discovered and announced the new base prices of polymers and other petrochemicals for the next week. The prices are applicable till July 29th., 2018 for all purchases from IME.
A very noticeable point about this week’s prices is that, unlike the trend of the global downside prices, which in all grades and groups other than PVC emulsions were supplied with lower prices, in contrast, in our country, we were faced with rising prices in all groups. And this was contrary to the forecasts of most experts.
The only commodity that has experienced price collapses today was PET bottle grade, which its all grades faced higher prices of over 1%. This price is relatively high compared to recent weeks.
while the value of US$ raised only by Rials 390 equal to 0.9% in comparison with last week’s value, and simultaneously the market was witnessing the declining trend in global commodity prices, we had to assume that this less than 1% in u$ value could be masked by the downward global prices of commodities, and this made and expectation for the market experts that the prices might be definitely lower than last week. However the announced prices brings about a suspicious; Are the polymers following the political system of Iran in pricing? That is like the country’s political decisions, polymer pricing is like swimming against the flow current of water?!
Among the goods and materials, as mentioned earlier, all commodities, groups, and grades were subject to higher prices except PET bottle grade that which was the only commodity that dropped by 2.5% in all four grades at the base price. This drop caused the product to drop in price between Rls. 1400 to 1500 / Kg its various grades.
But in the growing market, the largest increase was in the PVC group. The PVS-S 65 experienced an increase of 4.3% in base prices, bringing the price to 39.801 Rls./Kg. Other PVC suspension grades also increased by 4.1%. due to the fact that PVC suspensions were also increasing on the global markets.
After the group of PVCs, the extrusion grades of HDPE including PE 100, PE 80 and EX3, along with all HDPE injection mold grades, grew by 2.9% compared to the last week base prices. These grades faced with 2.7-2.8% raised prices being at the 3rd and 4th price increasing levels.
