The production of Iran petrochemical industry during 21st March 2012 to the end of 21st March 2016 has increased about 10 million tons by launching eight petrochemical projects including the Mahabad Petrochemical Complex.
According to the Plastics Industry Magazine website (PIME), referring to the Public Relations of Mahabad Petrochemical Company: Prevention of crude oil exportation {as far as it would be possible. C.E.} as well as the job creation and export development plans by launching new petrochemical projects have been the supportive plans of the 11-12th Government from the West Azarbaijan province. 22 valuable projects including Sulfuric Acid Petrochemical complex of Orumieh, and HDPE and LDPE of Mahabad are parts of these development plans.
Meanwhile, with the last year’s opening of the Mahabad Petrochemical Complex, in addition to the foreseen goals, the long-term wishes of the regional people have turned to the reality. Creation of suitable jobs for about 700 people, has been the base for development of petrochemical plants in Mahabad.
With the opening of the Petrochemical Company of Mahabad, the field of petrochemical exports is being and added value to the export chains of the region, and by now most of the products are exported to different countries,
In this respect, Mohsen Majidi, the managing director of the Mahabad Petrochemical Company referring to the production of 110,000 tons of polyethylene and 12,000 metric tons of Butane-1 in the Mahabad Petrochemical Complex, has said that: “So far 86,000 tons of these products with a value of about 110 million US$ have been exported”. “Also by creation of down-stream industries, we can preserve our resources and natural wealth” He added.
According to him, Mahabad petrochemicals are being exported to countries like Turkey, China, Vietnam, India and Greece, and by now the exportation of our materials to countries like Germany is going to be possible.
