It happens just in Iran, no one knows which day is The Holiday, so the material mobs and consumers are confused how to plan? One for market manipulation and the other for production. This is due to a tradition that the first of Ramadan is only approved when a high ranking Ayatollah can  truly watch the moon crescent. This happened this week in this month and the pre-announced of this year was collapsed in viewpoint of the holidays, and so the pre-planned holiday of Sunday June 26 shifted to today June 27th. This affected our planning as well, and so this article is published today.

If we remain silent because we are just a technical/scientific news and analysis website, and do not interfere with the mixed politics + religious + economical affairs, then, now and in future some readers and viewers may evaluate us as idiots. We are not, and so, are telling you what happened for the holidays during the Ramadan.

At the start of any year, almost all countries and nations have a calendar that shows the holidays, vacations, national days, memorandums and every day that could happen to be a suspension day. Of course some events like earthquakes, the death of a leader, a very snowy day may result suddenly to a vacation day. It happens everywhere in the world. But, in Iran we have another phenomenon. When it goes to the 1st and the last day of Ramadan, no one knows that whether the vacation day printed at the calendars is really a holiday or not? The reason is that several hundred Mullahs should see and confess that they have seen the Moon rise. No matter what the sophisticated astronomical and computers say. Several hundred Mullahs should go to the deserts, mountains, highlands and anywhere in their home cities and declare if they have seen the moon crescent. Yesterday, Sun. June 26th, the Petrochemical Downstream Industries Development (PDID) Office estimated the polymers’ base prices based on the US$ value of Rials 107.788. The rise in the value of US$ for base price calculating also led to an increase in polymer materials’ prices in Iran, despite the downward trend in the world market for the same materials. This is for the second consecutive week that the PDID Office neglects its own rules and tries to increase the material prices.
For several times we have pointed the need to change the formula for the base price calculation of polymers and chemical products because of the contrast with world prices. New announced prices, that is in the opposite side of the world trend once again emphasizes the need to change the formula for the polymer price calculations.
Maximum Increases
The PVC group with 6.6% increase in base prices, became more expensive than most last weeks for various grades with Rials 5000 to 5200/Kg., ranking at the top of the list of the highest prices for polymer materials.
After the PVC group, PP with a 6% growth in base price stood at the second place of the highest price increases. This resulted in Rials 7400 price increase and the base price of this material reached to Rials 131.624/Kg.
The third place by 5.9% also went to the textile grade of PP, SBR 1712, SBR 1502, and extrusion grades of PE 80 and PE 100.
The lowest base price increase this week was recorded for GPPS with 3.6% rise in prices.
