New Advanced Composites at Compotec and Seatec 2016
The following event is wired to PIMI.IR by “OB2B Marketing & PR” from UK:
Resintex Technology S.r.l. is exhibiting at Compotec 2016 and Seatec 2016 International exhibitions, which both take place from 6-8 April in Carrara, Italy. Now in its 8th year, Compotec has become the annual event for the Italian composites industry covering all industry sectors and composites related technologies, while Seatec, since the first exhibition back in 2003, has remained a marine industry event, focused on the latest technologies, materials, production techniques and design engineering for work boats, leisure craft and ship building. The Resintex stand (Hall D/891) will this year be showcasing recently launched new advanced composite materials from Scott Bader, a key supply partner for high performance resins, gelcoats and structural adhesives. Resintex Technology S.r.l. is the official technical national distribution partner in Italy for Scott Bader products, as well for other distribution partners supplying reinforcements, RTM and vacuum infusion equipment and related ancillaries.
As part of the boatbuilding focus on the Resintex stand for Seatec visitors, Scott Bader products for marine applications being shown include: Crystic® Ecogel Marine S3PA, a new Lloyd’s approved ‘ultra-low styrene’ Iso /NPG marine gelcoat grade, with a 22% styrene content; Crestabond® M1-30 and M1-60, new structural adhesive marine grades approved by DNV-GL for a variety of joining applications and substrates. Also being highlighted this year is Crystic Crestacoat® 5000PA, a specialty barriercoat which, according to published Scott Bader data, can significantly improve gelcoat surface finish, eliminate commonly visible defects and reducing gelcoat micro cracking over time. The long established, Lloyds and RINA certified range of Crestomer® GRP structural adhesives, supplied by Resintex to leading Italian boatbuilders, including Azimut and Ferretti will also be on display.
For Compotec visitors from other market sectors, especially automotive and land transportation design engineers looking for productivity and light weighting solutions, Resintex will be showing the latest structural bonding products added to Scott Bader’s Crestabond primer-less methacrylate structural adhesives range since exhibiting at Compotec last year. New products now available include: Crestabond M1-02, a new sub-three minute curing grade for higher volume assembly of metal, plastic and composite components; Crestabond PP-04, a new 1:1 grade specifically developed for rapidly bonding low surface energy thermoplastics, including polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE); and additional black pigmented Crestabond grades for improving the bond joint aesthetics of black ABS and carbon fibre (CF) composites components.
For lightweight FRP laminated part production, closed mould resin systems available from Scott Bader are being promoted, in particular Crestapol® 1250LV, a high performance acrylic resin which has been successfully used to mould very tough, light weight motorsport body parts reinforced with glass, carbon and aramid fibres. Resintex Technology has a particular expertise in vacuum infusion technology and has a number of successful case study projects which demonstrate the design, performance and productivity benefits of fabricating FRP composite parts by vacuum infusing with Crestapol 1250LV, compared with a liquid or prepreg epoxy resin system.
According to Laura Fabi, Sales and Marketing Director, Resintex Technology S.r.l, is soon to expand its gelcoat service in Italy, installing a new ‘GelTint’ volumetric gelcoat colour tinting machine in Frosinone (www.geltint.com). The new service will enable Resintex to nationally supply custom coloured Scott Bader Crystic® gelcoats in a choice of options, including marine approved Iso polyester gelcoat grades in both single and multiple 25kg keg orders, with short lead times.
