Publication of the previous news obliged some colleagues to know more about “Mann+Hummel” and a closer look at its activities, products and services. The following news is one of the results of the PIMI Editorial’s survey.
Continuous system and production improvement together with innovative thinking, are at the heart of the relationship between Tier 1 suppliers and their customers. An example of this is the new charge air duct provided by MANN+HUMMEL for various Ford applications.
As a preferred supplier of Ford MANN+HUMMEL is providing a wide range of filtration solutions across the Ford vehicle and engine range. MANN+HUMMEL is increasingly being asked by vehicle manufacturers to develop new, as well as enhancing existing, technologies and systems for today’s motoring and manufacturing needs.
A case in point is the development and supply of the cold side charge air duct for the Ford 1.5 liter 4-cylinder diesel engine used in the C-MAX Focus, Kuga and Transit Connect models. The MANN+HUMMEL product replaces a competitor component and brings the advantage to our customer of delivering cost savings by utilizing a different production technique.
Injection molding of the parts, as opposed to more traditional blow-molding, was the preferred option utilizing vibration welding technology together with infrared pre-heating. The net result is a more cost effective system with no loss of performance or quality.
Since the “Mann+Hummel” is a very active participant at the “IAA” fair (67th IAA Cars, FRANKFURT/MAIN, Sept. 14-24, 2017) a closer look at its IAA promotion should be interesting;.The page starts with the slogan “Curtain Up” and says:
No-one can escape the fascination. German premieres, European premieres and world premieres – this year again, the 67th IAA Cars will host the big names among car-makers and suppliers as they unveil a multitude of secrets and visions.
A spectacular unveiling at the IAA looks so simple, but there is far more to it than just removing a piece of cloth. Many people have been working hard behind the scenes to choreograph the music, dancers, light shows and film sequences. And the great moment comes at last: one graceful movement, and the cloth is pulled away from the car… cameras flash, and applause fills the stage. Yet it is not only the hottest coupés, station wagons or off-road vehicles that are revealed at the IAA Cars. The trade fair also showcases new prototypes, vehicle studies and concept cars. The saying “larger than life” is often applied to these new icons – futuristic, exclusive, flat and dynamic, a perfectly coordinated interior with the latest gadgets and visionary multimedia features… the list goes on. These show cars are designed and developed by manufacturers – and nowadays also by suppliers – in order to drive their visions forward and to try out new design concepts and technologies. So what could be more exciting than seeing the technology of the future at the upcoming IAA? (The story will be explained more at Aug. 20th, 2017 about 9.00 pm).
