No Talks with American Firms: NPC:
Managing Director of National Petrochemical Company (NPC) Marziyeh Shahdaei says the company is not in talks with any American companies directly.
Addressing a seminar on the petrochemical industry on Wednesday, the official responded to a question by a reports about holding talks with an American company, saying NPC is not in talks with any American companies.
She said NPC is negotiating with the European branch of a leading American company, adding it will hold a joint technical seminar with the company in the near future.
Shahdaei, who is also deputy petroleum minister in petrochemical affairs, further said Indian investors have proposed investment in an ammonia project that would consider receiving gas at 5 cents which was dismissed by the Iranian Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh because Iran does not supply gas at that price to anyone.
“The Iranian Ministry of Petroleum cannot sell its gas short to Indians for them to invest in Iran,” she added. “Considering the price of gas at 4 to 5 cents would be pretty lucrative for even domestic companies.”
She also said NPC is in talks with many foreign companies for signing MoUs and investment in numerous projects in Iran.
Top PR of the Petroleum Ministry:
The public relations department of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) was lauded in 4 sections at the Top Petroleum Industry Public Relations Festival.
Held in the presence of Iranian Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh, managing director of public relations of the Iranian Ministry of Petroleum Akbar Nematollahi and head of public relations offices the main four subsidiaries of the petroleum ministry, a ceremony was held on Saturday to honor the petroleum industry’s top public relations offices in Iran.
NPC’s public relations won the runner-up award in electronic relations, the second runner-up award for media relations and the second runner-up award for publications in the festival.
Competitors for the award jockeyed in 8 sections and a panel of judges announced the winners at the festival.
Among the winners were South Pars Gas Complex in the social studies section, Tabris Oil Refining Company in planning, Imam Khomeini Refining Company in publications, Nouri Petrochemical Company in electronic relations and Bandar Abbas Oil Refining Company in cultural section won the first awards.
Iraq Favorable Market for Iranian Petchem Products: Official:
Head of the Iran-Iran Joint Chamber of Commerce Yahya Ale-Eshaq says neighboring Iraq is potent to become a major market for Iranian petrochemical products, adding a national determination is needed for realization of this goal.
Speaking to NIPNA, Ale-Eshaq said Iran is currently enjoying a very small share in the Iraqi market of petrochemical products which has been occupied by other regional rivals.
He said downstream industries must gain better access to regional markets by better marketing and devising timely strategies to win more market share in the country.
Iraq is currently importing $14b of petrochemical goods and services annually which is expected to cross $20b in the near future, he added.
The official also predicted that by integrated and efficient planning, Iranian suppliers will be able to overcome their rivals in the Iraqi market.
