Italian, Japanese Investors Eager to Invest in Jam Petchem Plant

Managing Director of Jam Petrochemical Plant Hossein Mir Afzali said his company has held talks with Japanese and Italian investors for development of a number of projects at the facility.

Mir Afzali said his company is currently involved in a series of talks with Japanese and Italian investors, and expressed hope that the talks will reach fruition in the near future hastening the company’s growth.

He also said the global price of petrochemicals has diminished while the price of feedstock has been rising in Iran causing a series of troubles for petrochemical plants operating in the country.

Karoon II, Takht Jamshid Petchem Projects Ready for Startup

Managing Director of Mahshahr Petrochemical Special Economic Zone (PETZONE) Omid Shahidinia said Karoon II and Takht Jamshid petrochemical projects are more than 99% complete and are practically ready for inauguration.

Addressing the opening ceremony of an exhibit held to introduce investment opportunities in the southwestern province of Khuzestan, Shahidinia surveyed highlights of the petrochemical activities at the Mahshahr PETZONE.

For the time being, Iran relies on the PETZONE for nearly 43% of its total petrochemical output, he said, adding the region has created jobs for over 30,000 people that include the locals and has been built by 17 billion dollars of investment over the course of the past 19 years.

He also said that all the plants operating at the region are operating at 2,600 hectare of land, adding 91 units are currently operational.

As he added, 22 other petrochemical projects are being constructed at the PETZONE, adding the projects have made between 20 to 99% progress and two of them, Karoon II and Takht Jamshid projects, are ready for startup.
