NPC prioritizes projects with above 70 percent progress
Managing director of Iran’s National Petrochemical Company (NPC) said on Monday the company has prioritized petrochemical projects with more than 70% progress for completion in the post-sanctions era.
Shana news website quoted Abbas Sharee-Moqaddam as saying the projects are prioritized because working out their remaining part (30 percent) is easy to bring them to the stage of generating proceeds.
He said NPC eyes joint venture investments with foreign partners for its future projects as the sector can generate jobs inside the country.
Iran has dozens of half-finished petrochemical projects which, once completed, will double the country’s petrochemical production capacity from the current 60mt/y.
Among the projects that have made over 70% progress are: phase II of Karoun petrochemical plant, phase I of Damavand Petrochemical Power Plant, Assaluyeh Glycol Ethylene in Morvarid Petrochemical Plant, Phase III of Pardis Petrochemical Plant, Polystyrene unit in Entekhab Petrochemical Plant, Phase I of Polystyrene unit at Kimia Plant, and Olefin unit of Ilam Petrochemical Plant.
