Once upon a time, I was a producer (converter) of plastics bottles and closures for food and hygienic packaging, dealing with injection and blow moulding machines and plastics materials. I was a good customer for Chemie Linz of Austria (1979-1990). Some events (Aug.-Nov. 1983) forced me to think of being a publisher, if my country needs me, and develop the country’s science & technology of polymers, rather than just being a good producer of plastics’ products. I decided, and then (Nov. 1983) established “Plastics Industry Magazine” and published one of the few expert periodicals and the only one of its kind till now (Nov. 1985) In IRI. in order to publish whatever that I had in my mind with experiences gained during my production and trading profession, I had to be a free, sworn and independent journalist. This mindset brought so many difficulties in my life and I lost everything one by one for freedom. For 31 years I tried to make the world of polymers well known for our industries. As far as my foreign relations were concerned, I had long term cooperation with two main European polymers’ bodies, Milan Plast show (under management of Claudio Celata) and Messe Dusseldorf (The K show– usually with friendly cooperation with Eva Rugenstein and Erhardt Wienkampe).
Apart form all job duties, Mr. Claudio Celata, for 30 years, has been the publisher and the editorial director of MACPLAS and MACPLAS International magazines. Moreover, PIM has had a long history of cooperation with Milan PLAST show for organization of visitors trip to PLAST and promoting exhibitors for the same show. also a close cooperation with IranPlast’s Italian and exhibitors and visitors from the first edition.
Once upon a time, I decided to establish or organize an international plastics show for/in my country. I ended with two small exhibitions, then became one of the (if not the main) media supporters of IranPlast held for the first time in Oct. 2002. I made some globally famous journalists (Bob Colvin- Modern Plastics International, Claudio Celata- MACPLAS, Edward Mason- Canadian Plastics, Martin Wells- South African Plastics, Toru Takahashi- A Japanese freelance journalist/Photographer, Olga Prodovskaya- Russian Journalist, etc….) interested to this newly established Iranian exhibition, and they visited this show (some for two times and some for three). We had a great success and thanks to Mr. Claudio Celata of ASSOCOMAPLAST for his 25 years’ continuous support, as well as my friends in Messe Dusseldorf (mainly Mr. Wienkamp and Mrs. Rugenstein) and all I received from participation at the PLAST, K and the K preview trips for about 28 years.
Once upon a time, the 5+1 nuclear deal’s negotiations (2013) forced me to think that if my country needs me I should be prepared for the periods after signatures which might be put under a historical agreement. I started with my already shrunk team and planned a portal for this purpose: pimi.ir.
Just one minute ago, I said good bye to “PIM” which of course will be published stronger and more popular (not only for intellectuals) in an overcrowded ceremony, thanks to so many good friends within Iranian plastics industry and media. In this way and to launch this website, not only I had to say so, but I have already lost a lot including the main fruit of my 31 years’ continuous activity for publication of 321 issues of PIM, just because I think this interface which will act as a bridge in between Iran and the world’s polymer industry is our today need, but also because I was not able to tolerate with the way that IranPlast 2016 is organized and is going to continue with about 90% of the main part of the Iranian plastics industries – mainly the Iranian plastics machinery manufacturers and more than 10 plastics’ associations and their members (in my opinion; intentionally) have been kept out of the show!
Once upon a time, in future, I will tell you that what those who organized the IP 2016 gained and what I lost, or vise-versa.
