As it was predictable (Click Here), this week the polymer prices trend became decreasing like other global markets. It was also possible to see further lower prices in Iran, because of the regulations regarding the method of value discovering for US$. But, selection of a higher value for the US$ made it impossible to see prices by 1.1% decreasing and instead the prices decreased only by about 0.8%.

According to PIMI reporters,  on Sunday July 28th, 2019, the PDID Office of NPC decided to calculate the polymer prices based on the Rials 115,130. Though this was against the rules and we didn’t published the prices (like all other Sundays) hoping to see a change, but there was no explanation at all. In fact the average official value for the US$ was Rials 114,964, and if this was the case in calculations we should have seen even lower prices. However, although the PDID didn’t act legally for base price calculations, but all prices went down. So, this week we only look at the respective higher decreases in prices;

1- PET fibre grades with 7.3% in comparison with last week resulting in Rials 9,110 cheaper price.
2- PET bottle grade with 4% decrease. It is noticeable that after increasing the price of this commodity, this is the 3rd week of price decreasing for this material.
3- PBR 1220 was at the 3rd row for highest price decreasing with 2.6% and its official price reached to Rials 140,291.

By any means due to a great recession in downstream industries, such decreasing trend can’t be a provocative leverage for the increasing the trade volumes. The great problem, that the Government should think about it, is the low liquidity and cash in the hands of the true producers. Such price gambling is only on behalf of the material smugglers, or in the other hand on behalf of the downstream industries.

During the week Sun. July 21st till Sat. 27th, 2019, the allowed buyers from the IME participated in 193 bids for purchasing different polymers. The figures are given in the second table. However a short comparison between the first table (free market prices on Sun. 28th) shows the true facts governing the Iranian polymer market.
