SERIOPLAST: New plant starts up in Turkey / Containers for Unilever / Latest expansion for Italian blow moulder
Italian blow moulder Serioplast (Dalmine; www.serioplast.it) has reportedly started up a new facility in Turkey, which will supply rigid plastic containers to the Konya-based facility operated by its client Unilever (Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey / USA; www.unilever.com). Italian investor Simest (Rome; www.simest.it) will invest EUR 3m to own a 43% stake in Serioplast Ambalaj, which – like its parent company Serioplast – belongs to Old Mill Holding (Bergamo / Italy).
Founded in 1974, Serioplast today operates 20 plants in 12 countries, most of them located in Europe. In late 2014, the company started up a new plant in St. Petersburg / Russia, also dedicated to meeting the needs of Unilever (see Plasteurope.com of 17.11.2014). About 40% of its plants are integrated into existing customer networks.
Serioplast’s approximately 1,100 employees generated sales of EUR 276m in 2015. The company specialises in the manufacture of blow-moulded bottles and containers, with sizes ranging from 50 ml to 5 l. Serioplast currently operates 72 injection moulding machines dedicated to the production of PET preforms.
