Possibly with respect to the opening of the K 2019 fair, the chairman of the Iranian Plastics Machine Manufacturers Association (PMMA) and an active member of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Mines (TCCIM) has criticized the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade (ITM) for what he calls the “self-manner look” regarding the machinery imports to Iran.
Eng. Hervik Yarijanian criticized the IMT Ministry (Abbreviated in Iran as: SAMT) by publishing a piece on the website of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce, saying that the fate of an industry is left to the hands of an unskilled employee. Mr. Yarijanian is the youngest supersede of an Armenian machine manufacturing family with more than 60 years of history. He has also an active personality for syndication activities which has led him to the management boards of Iran-China and Iran- Armenia Chambers of Commerce. Confirming that PIMI is fully agreed with the content of his critique, the full translation of Mr. Yrijanian open letter is as follow:
The Ministry of Industry’s regulations has made the import of machinery required by the polymer industry very strict and sometimes prohibited, and this is a serious damage to the production lines of petrochemical downstream industry. Modernization of the production lines has been delayed by these regulations, and petrochemical downstream industries have been seriously affected by the IMT Ministry’s decisions. The machinery that was to be imported and used to expand the export of the polymer industry products to various markets, including Iraq, Afghanistan and the Persian Gulf states, either did not reach to production lines or its importing process is slowed.
The IMT Ministry has banned the importation of machinery that can’t be manufactured domestically. The main reason for this decision is to get the wrong information, not to use expert opinions and to ignore the current state of the industry. As a machine manufacturer with over sixty years of experience {we can say that., CE} prevention of importation of some necessary foreign machinery and not utilizing of such {necessary. CE} machinery {in converting industries of Iran. CE} is an extortion to the consumers. Also, by the unprecedented decision of the IMT Ministry, the benefits are pumped to our regional competitor’s pocket; Turkey, which equips its production lines with the best machinery. Although the Turkish local machine manufacturers are operating in that country, but the Turkish industries authorities doesn’t prevent machinery imports from Germany or Southeast Asian countries.
Our today’s main problem is the indifference and scheme-less plans of the IMT Ministry. The IMT Ministry operates tastefully and without any expertise background and correct thoughts, makes the wrong decisions about the industry. This kind of the IMT Ministry’s tactics and actions is damaging the country’s industries. The least expectation of the industry owners is to set up a work group at the Ministry of industry in order to correctly understand the activity trend and the necessities and needs of the industries, rather than handing over decisions affecting the fate of a large part of the industry to an employee who has no knowledge of our situation.
