Last night, we well informed about the death of one of the unique Iranian personalities in the Iranian mould making industry. Dr. Seyed Mehdi Sododi was the most close friend of the CEO of “Polymer Industry Media International”. He and Mr. Saatnia had 42 years of friendship and did a lot of job in favour of the Iranian mould and plastics industry.
Dr. Sododi’s friendship with Mr. Saatnia started in 1983 when he was the agent and representative of two German companies of NOVAPAX and HASCO. Both companies were in-line with mould making industry and at the time, Mr. Saatnia owned and was running 3 plastics factories and two trade companies in-line with plastics and rubber parts production, international trade and the first private research institute.
After publication of “Plastics Industry Magazine”, Dr. Sododi started to support this new media which its publication was too early for Iran. He supported the PIM by giving bunch of advertisements and advertorial on behalf of the German companies, also his own company in Iran.
Since late 80’s their friendship became much than serious and they started to act on behalf of the Iranian P&R companies. In order to make this (almost personal text shorter) at the following we are listing two groups of activities done either solely by Dr. Sododi or activities handled together. Dr. Sododi was also the volunteer envoy of PIMI in Germany.
He has left behind a twin girl and his wife. The twin are really the proud of the Iranian community. One a university professor in mathematics and the other a Dr. in meteorology.
Dr. Sododi sole activities:
1- Representing the two German companies, also cooperating with other German companies for know-how transfer;
2- Cooperation with the Iranian Defense Ministry during Iran-Iraq war for resolving their mould problems and moulding needs;
3- Starting to learn and production of necessary needs for increasing the knowledge of using standard mould parts in Iran’s mould making shops and companies;
4- Foundation of a technical school (Hezar-Dastan Co.) aiming to educate the young work forces for designing moulds based on the standard parts;
5- Foundation of the “Iranian ُSociety of Toolmakers“;
6- Publication of the “Production & Manufacturing Magazine” with the help of his twins;
7- Cooperation with Iranian auto part manufacturers and producers aiming to change their traditional supply and ordering or purchasing moulds;
8- Writing special standard method for testing and purchasing 2nd hand good quality moulds from Europe;
9- Organizing industrial tours for participation at international exhibitions related to moulds, focusing on EuroMould exhibition.
Dr. Sododi’s activities in coop with Mr. Saatnia:
1- First time introduction of the “ISO” standards in an international conference;
2- Establishment of the “Iranian Polymer Machine Manufacturers Association” (IPMMA):
3- Editor of the 5 languages dictionary published by PIM;
4- Establishment of “The House of Plastics Industries”
At the end, all colleagues of Mr. Saatnia announce their condolences to him an also the honored family of “SODODI”.
