Today, like other Sundays, the Office for the Development of Downstream Industries of Petrochemicals (PDID) announced the new base polymer prices for a week till Dec. 30th. 2018.
According to the Plastics Industry Magazine reports, at this week’s prices, the free market US$ exchange rate fell by Rls. 4,000 and reached to the level of Rls. 86,767 Rials, which meant a 4.2% decline in the base dollar rate for price discovery. This, in other words, has led to a downward trend in the prices of polymeric materials in Iran, in spite of the stabilization of the prices of polymers and, in some cases, increasing their prices internationally. This week, no polymer goods and grades hit the rise in price, and all the commodities and grades of the polymer came at a declining price.
Downturn polymer
The highest price drop among polymers belonged to the HIPS 7240, which fell almost by 5.5%, (a reduction of the base price of Rls. 6,553/Kg to the last week’s base price), sold for Rls. 111,069/Kg.
After HIPS 7240, the two extensively extruded polyethylene products PE100 and PE 80 fell by about 4.6 percent at the base price and experienced about Rls. 4,300/Kg lower base rate.
After it, the price of HDPE had the third highest drop in price. This item was priced at Rls. 87,590/Kg.
Fibre PP, GPPS 1540 and injection PP also fell by 4.2%, 4% and 4% respectively, compared with last week. Druing the week the total number of all deals has registered for 158 times, i.e. less than last week.
