After endorsement of his presidency by the “Supreme Leader” on last Thursday, “Dr. Hassan Rouhani” re-elected for the 2nd term, attended to a ceremony organized by the Iranian Parliament. The ceremony itself was the most expensive ceremony of its kind in comparison with the last 11th swearing ceremonies. The huge expenses raised due to participation of tens of high ranking officials from other countries, their securities, lodgings and side-lines.
President Rouhani’s personal “speech” after the official “Oath-in Document” was very attractive for his rivals and pro communities and individuals. Tweater, Facebook, Instagram, Telegram and Viber were the most used social areas used for messages and exchanges of hundreds of opinions. He made the remarks in his inauguration ceremony where he was sworn in as president for the second term. The President noted that today, it is not the time of unveiling the mother of bombs and the mother of sanctions but it is time to unveil the mother of cooperation and engagement.
‘Iran sets no limitation to cooperation with any state,’ he underlined.
The President said: ‘Iran extends hand of friendship to its neighbors and wants best relations with them.’ ‘The foreign powers which only think of their short-sighted interests and have destabilized the region by selling billions of dollars of arms are just sowing discord in the region for fishing in the troubled waters,’ Rouhani said.
‘We are seeking a stabilized and integrated region and we want to make moderation and logic, the dominant voice of the region instead of violence and extremism,’ he added.
President Hassan Rouhani was sworn in as Iran’s president for another four-year term in an official ceremony held at the Iranian parliament in Tehran on Saturday evening.
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Thursday gave official seal of approval to President Rouhani who won a landslide victory and was re-elected as next president on May 19 presidential election.
Iranian government declared one day holiday in the capital, Tehran to prepare the grounds for presidential inauguration ceremony.
Several foreign guests, heads of states and high-ranking officials, including the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini took part in President’s oath-taking ceremony.
Sidelines
- Absenteeism of the top reformist figure, “Dr. S. M. Khatami” (The 7th and 8th round President of Iran which publication of his photos and images in Iran is illegal) was the main sideline which took attention of Iranians. He was not invited by the organizer, and some say that, due to this decision, Mr. M. Ahamdi-Nejad which had participated at the Supreme Leader’s oath-in ceremony, was invited by didn’t allow to get in!
- Attendance of 108 reporters from 64 countries of the world (including USA) was one of the greatest participation of the global journalists in Iran.
- Invitation of some cinema and theater famous figures, also some sport’s popular faces, was questioning for some not-invited politicians!
- * Attendance of “Federica Mogherini”, the Italian politician and an EU official related to JCOPA with scarf and her seating chair in front of the Iranian Ministers, was another sideline of the ceremony.
- * Attendance of 8 presidents, 19 head of parliaments, 25 delegations from Asia and Oceania, 26 from Arabian and African, 30 from Europe and clerics and religious leaders were surprising for the Iranian journalists!
- Participation of legally accused President’s brother (Hassan Fereydoon) raised critiques over organizers!
- Attendance of the “late Ayattollah Khoeini”‘s family members, including his daughter and daughter-in-law was surprising for many pro-reformist activists!
- The coincidence of today’s ceremony with the first revloution of Iranians in 111 years ago to acquire freedom was questioning and thinkable.
- Usually any event or ceremony in Iran has sidelines that are more important than the main event in the view of the Iranians!
