Materials’ monitoring, including the trade volumes and especially with respect to the base and free market prices show the true heart beating of any industry. Dec. 23rd to Thur. Dec. 28th.

1- The market analysis

The PIMI specialist in mercantile exchange market, in the last week of the year 2017, the Iranian commodity polymers’ market at the “IME” experienced less successful deals than last week. Since only 30 grades out of the 75 grades offered materials with competitive prices which was 3 grades less in comparison with last week’s deals.
Market manipulators have been struggling to keep the track of the effect of the rising US$ values over materials during the past few days, however due to trend reversing of the US$ increasing market value as well as the huge purchases of past weeks and their entry into the market, also the lack of sufficient end-users they had no success and their strategy changed to be very conservative. Though, if the supply was increased in groups such as textile grade of PP, it would have been fully purchased by the applicants.
The volume of supply this week experienced a large drop in comparison with that of the last week (about 4000 tons increase). Of course, this week, the supply of inflated materials like PVC and PET bottles has increased, and their deals have been better than last week.
This week’s trading volume also dropped a bit more than last week and hit 9.882 tones, it seems that due to purchasing a lot of shipments in the past weeks and the lack of sufficient end-to-end cash flow along with stopping dollar appreciation on recent days, the brokers and marketers had decided to cut their purchases.
In total, more than more than 70% of the products shipped by the PC units, that is about 4% less than the last week. For competitive materials the competition values changed between 1-13%.

The volume of demand was still declining, with a significant decrease of 13,000 tons compared to last week, when the demand volume was 32,000 tons. This week’s demand reached to 74,000 tons, while demands had increased to over 100 thousand tons in the past three weeks. The decline in demand for goods like PVC was the main reason, for demands decreasing.

Reducing competition in PVC:
This week, the highest price competition for PVC produced by Bandar Imam was at a rate of 5 percent, while last week the product was sold at 10 percent price competition, as well as S57 grade of PVC of Abadan complex commodity after a 5 percent decline in competition.
PVC grade S65 suitable for pallets shipped by Ghadir petrochemicals faced 3% competitive price, which is a reasonable competition, also Ghadir petrochemical grade sold with a 3% competitive price, with a decline in the competitive rate of over 2%. The grades supplied by Arvand’s petrochemicals were nearly balanced.
