Today, on September 16th, the petrochemical director’s press conference was held on the occasion of IranPlast which will kick-off on Sept. 22nd. The meeting attended by the NPC Director and the media representatives was organized at the conference hall of NPC headquarter.
Behzad Mohammadi, the deputy of the Oil Minister in petrochemical affairs, spoke at an exclusive press conference on the occasion of the 13th IranPlast Expo and pointed out the importance of the petrochemical industry in the country: Petrochemical industry is an important economic enterprise and its impact on the country’s economy is inevitable.
The Director of the National Petrochemical Company said: “The petrochemical industry receives 33 million tons of feed from the oil and gas refineries, of which 25 million tons are direct feeds and 8 million are for the same industry fuels, equivalent to 650,000 barrels of petroleum.
Mohammadi said the petrochemical industry’s production capacity in 2013 was about 57 million tonnes a year, which now stands at 65.8 million tonnes.
The head of the NPC: “The total petrochemical industry revenue is $ 17 billion, which will reach a significant amount in years 2021-2025”. He continued: “Regarding future years’ increasing of production capacity the job creation opportunities will change from 108,000 to 123,000 in 2021.
Pointing to the upcoming IranPlast international exhibition, Mohammadi said: “This year, the IranPlast exhibition being one of the best exhibitions in the region for the petrochemical industries , will be held with participation of 570 national and 35 international companies together with attendance of 12 foreign delegates.”
“Though, this year, because of the unilateral sanctions of US, the international part of IranPlast is very poor, but in compensation, domestic companies with their vast participation have surprised the organizers and even some problems were faced. This huge welcoming was so that, if one of the other simultaneous would not have been cancelled the organizers didn’t have enough space to allocate many domestic applications.” He added.
Referring to the diversification of the produced petrochemicals in Iran, Mohammadi also said: “in this industry we produce 44 types of chemicals and petrochemicals plus 18 types of polymers with 300 different grades which totally will increase the diversification of the total types of products to 350 types.”
According to the director of NPC, the company has invited 11 Oil and Energy ministers from neighbouring countries which will hold a meeting with the Iran’s Oil Minister.
IranPlast international exhibition for plastics and rubber industries will be kicked-off on Sept. 22nd and will end on Sept. 25th.
