Leader Urges State Officials to Focus on Domestic Economy to Boost Production And EmploymentLeader Urges State Officials to Focus on Domestic Economy to Boost Production And Employment : As a traditional program, less than a minute after the start of the Iranian new year (10:28:40 GMT) the message of the country’s Supreme Leader on the occasion of the new year was broadcasted by almost all Iranian TV and Radio stations. The speeches of the Leader and the President is usually a brief of what has happened during the last year, as well as new plans in their minds for the year coming ahead. However, the speech of the Leader draws a road map for the Government as well as a slogan which should be followed by every responsible bodies within the Government as their main policy to run the country. This Iranian year (1396, i.e. March 21st 2017-March 20th 2018) is called the year of “Production and Employment”.

According the new policies of the PIMI Portal (coming to readers after a short while) we have picked up the most important part of the Supreme Leader’s speech which is related to the Iranian economy and production at the year in front of us. Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei felicitated the Iranian nation on the advent of Nowruz, the start of the New Persian Year, and called on people and officials to double efforts to improve economy through enhancing national production and employment rates.

“The (Iranian) people’s enthusiastic and zealous participation in the February 10 rallies (marking the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran) in response to the US president’s disrespect and the people’s huge gathering in the (international) Quds Day show the Iranian nation’s identity and exalted goals,” Ayatollah Khamenei said in a televised message to the Iranian nation on the occasion of the start of the Iranian New Year.

“Despite the fact that the neighbors of Iran and the regional states are insecure, the security in Iran in the turbulent regional and international environment was a highly important indicator and the Iranian nation experienced sustainable security during the (past) year,” he added.

Ayatollah Khamenei also lauded the young Iranian people’s success in the scientific, cultural and sports fields and holding different religious meetings and activities as among the positive points that brought joy and happiness to the Iranian people.

He, meantime, called on the Iranian officials and people to seize the opportunity of the new year to double efforts to strengthen economy.

Ayatollah Khamenei described the resistance economy as the remedy to economic problems, and called the new year as the year of “Resistance Economy, Production and Employment”.

Nowruz, which coincides with the first day of spring on the solar calendar, is mostly celebrated in Iran, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, India, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Pakistan, Turkey and Uzbekistan.

The International Day of Nowruz was registered on the UNESCO List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity on February 23, 2010.

For Iranians, Nowruz is a celebration of renewal and change, a time to visit relatives and friends, and pay respect to senior family members.

Iranians welcome the New Year by wearing new clothes and setting the Haft Seen, a table containing seven items starting with the letter ‘S’; Sabzeh (freshly grown greens), Samanu (sweet wheat paste), Senjed (jujube), Seeb (apple), Seer (garlic), Serkeh (vinegar) and Somaq (sumac).
