Strengthening its presence in the UK market, Swedish compounder Hexpol (Malmö; www.hexpol.com) has acquired the Berwin Group (Dukinfield / UK; www.berwin-rubber.co.uk) for around GBP 25m (EUR 32m).
One of the UK’s leading rubber compounders, the group comprises Berwin Rubber, Berwin Industrial Polymers and Flexi-Cell (UK) with manufacturing facilities in Manchester and Gloucestershire. It has an estimated annual turnover of GBP 40m and employs around 200 people.
“This is a further step in expanding and strengthening the Hexpol Group with a further acquisition within our core business, commented Georg Brunstam, Hexpol’s CEO. The purchase price will be funded by a combination of cash and existing bank facilities.
The Swedish group purports to be one of the world’s leading polymers players, with a global presence. It reccently brought on stream a new rubber compounding line in Mexico (see Plasteurope.com of 26.02.2016).

HEXPOL is a world-leading polymers group with strong global market positions in advanced polymer compounds (Compounding), gaskets for plate heat exchangers (Gaskets) and wheels made of plastic and rubber materials for forklifts and castor wheel applications (Wheels).
