Marun Plant to Launch 60k-Ton Compounding Project in 2017: Managing Director of “Marun Petrochemical Plant” Rahim Mousavi said the plant will launch a 60,000-ton compounding unit in 2017.
Speaking to NIPNA, Mousavi said installation of equipment for completion of the project is going on as planned and the project will partially come on-stream by winter.
He said the plant will be fully operational next year, adding the compounding unit of Maroun Petrochemical Plant is being completed with the aim of completing the value chain of downstream petrochemical production.
Construction of the plant began in 1998 and was officially launched in 2006.
The plant recycles ethane in natural gas for production of various chemicals and polymer products.
Regarded as one of Iran’s biggest petrochemical facilities, the plant can process 110,000 tons of ethylene, 200,000 tons of propylene, 300,000 tons of dense polyethylene, 300,000 tons of polypropylene and over 443,000 tons of various grades of glycol.
