Iran Can Determine Petchem Prices in the Region: According to different news sources, the NPC Managing Director has considered the powers of the Iranian PC industries in two public speeches.
At one of her speeches, Deputy Minister of Petroleum for Petrochemical Affairs Marzieh Shahdaie said on Tuesday that Iranian petrochemical industry is an international industry and Iranian companies should raise their competitive power globally.
Oil official: Iranian companies should get more powerful
Shahdaie said regarding presence of many foreign delegations in Iran and their call for cooperation, conditions have been prepared for boosting activities in the industry.
She said that under the present competitive and complex world, growth and promotion of petrochemical industry is a must.
Mrs. Shahdaie has said elsewhere that: Iran can turn into the region’s determiner of petrochemical prices provided that it adopts an integrated petrochemical export policy.
Addressing a national conference on the future of petrochemical industry, opportunities and threats on Sunday, the official said adopting an integrated marketing and business policy by Iranian petrochemical companies would be the best way to bolster the country’s foothold in international markets.
She said enhancing exports, gradually weaning the economy off petrodollars, and increasing export of downstream products are some of the main goals and visions pursued by Iran’s petrochemical industry.
She further said that NPC has defined dozens of major upstream and downstream projects under the 6th five-year development plan (2017-2022) that will add nearly 50 million tons to the country’s annual petrochemical output by 2022.
Latest on the Iranian petrochemical industries:
As far as the Iranian PC industries are concerned, Iran has exported an average of 450,000 barrels/d of petroleum products in the first 10 months of the current calendar year which began on March 20 2016, and so, the country has set a record by exporting of 600,000 b of products during the period.
Also Iran began exporting PC products for the first time this year after more than a century of pumping crude oil from its reserves.
These items were exported from Mahshahr, Bandar Abbas, Asalouyeh and Lavar ports, adding the export volumes are planned to be sustained at 0.6mbd in the coming years. Also according to an official:
“Since implementation of Iran’s nuclear deal with world powers, the country’s refineries have undergone major developments and new business transactions began with Germans and many industrial equipment were imported to the country for developing Persian Gulf and Bandar Abbas refineries. It was after the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) implementation that the project to sustain the quality of Abadan Refinery’s output with an investment of $2.8b was carried out in Iran.
