BASF increases prices for pigments worldwide

BASF increases prices for pigments worldwide: Effective from June 1st, The German very famous chemical company -BASF- will increase the prices of some of its products. The company has informed its customers by two different following PRs.

Announcement 1:

LUDWIGSHAFEN, GERMANY, June 01, 2017 – Effective today, or as contracts allow, BASF will increase prices for numerous pigments by up to 15 percent worldwide. The price increase predominantly affects phthalocyanine and inorganic pigments used in the coatings, plastics and printing industries. The price adjustments are necessary due to higher raw materials costs e.g. copper, TiO2 or cobalt, as well as further challenging environmental, health and safety costs.

Annuoncement 2:

With immediate effect, or as existing contracts permit, BASF SE will increase its European selling prices for the following products:

1,4-Butanediol (BDO) + 200 EUR/mt
Tetrahydrofuran (THF) + 150 EUR/mt
Polytetramethylene ether glycol (PolyTHF®) + 300 EUR/mt
N-Methyl-2-Pyrrolidone (NMP) + 150 EUR/mt
Gamma Butyrolactone (GBL) + 150 EUR/mt

BDO and its derivatives are used for producing engineering plastics, polyurethanes, solvents and elastic spandex fibers.
