On Sunday, May 27th, 2018, the PDID Office of NPC announced the launch of new base prices for polymers and other petrochemical materials. This announcement happened whereas the same Office still has not provided a reasonable response to the last week’s  unjustified 3% increase in almost all polymer materials, that resulted in markets fluctuations and price increases in the free market.

Also, for the first time after announcement of a single-price exchange rate for the US$, this week the price of the same currency faced with 110 Rials showing a 0.26% increase in FOREX, which, of course, could not affect much of the announced prices. Therefore, if the PDID Office continues to use the formula for the average US$ price and the average world prices for polymers delivery (95% of FOB prices in Persian Gulf), then only the second factor should be the main effective change factor in the polymer base prices for the last week of May and the 1st day of June.

This week, after a long period of time, the number of commodity products with falling prices were relativly higher than those commodities that were rising in price. The highest increase was recorded for ABS, which experienced 2.03%% growth in its base price last week, reaching 92.677 Rials/Kg. After ABS, the styrene based product 1520 rose up to 1.71% from its previous weekend price of 71.796 Rials/KG.

The group of PVCs also faced a rise in prices, with the third highest price polymer group facing with the price rise. The growth rate of the PVC group was 1.1%.
