PIMI has revised the latest news on the Iranian Petrochemical industries. The following 3 items are the most latest news picked up for the interested readers.
1- Jam Petchem Plant Breaks 3-year Production Record
Jam Petrochemical Plant has broken a new record in production of petrochemicals since its inauguration back in 2009. The company runs five units which supply olefins, heavy polyethylene, linear polyethylene, butadiene and butane-1.
The plant is touted as one of the pieces completing the value-chain in South Pars Special Economic Zone. The plant’s output in the past 3 years has increased by 674,000 tons per year in comparison with the preceding three years.
Iranian petrochemical plants supplied 13.2 million tons of products in the first quarter of the current Iranian calendar year which began on March 21.
2- Kavian Petchem Plant Eyes 2 mt/y Output by 2019
The CEO of Iran’s Kavian Petrochemical Plant said his company has planned to bring its annual production capacity to 2 million tons per year by 2019 from currently 1.2 ml/y.
Speaking to NIPNA, Ramezan Owladi said the company’s envisaged production plan will be materialized once all phases of the supergiant South Pars Gas Field become operational by 2019.
He said once the envisaged output is realized, the company will be operating at 100 percent of its nameplate capacity.
By 2020, Kavian Petrochemical Plant, producing 2.2 mt/y of output, will be supplying surplus ethylene which will be exploited for feeding petrochemical plants in Mahshahr Petrochemical Zone in the southwestern province of Khuzestan.
Last calendar year, which ended on March 20, the facility supplied 1.2 million tons of ethylene, he said adding, the company was expected to operate at 80 percent of its rated capacity this calendar year by supplying 1.6 mt/y of ethylene.
The ethylene output of the facility is injected into the West Ethylene Pipeline to feed dozens of petrochemical plants on its way through the western provinces of the country.
Mr. Owladi further added that by 2020, the plant would kick off projects aimed at boosting its production capacity by 10 to 15 percent annually.
The CEO of Kavian Petrochemical Company said: “With the increase of ethylene production and the excess of this feedstock, we can provide ethylene to the petrochemicals of Bakhtar Holding, Ilam, Ghadir and Arvand, as well as the plants operating at Mahshahr Petrochemical Zone and Amir Kabir Petrochemical Plant.”
3- Petchem Development best Path to Economic Growth: Businessman
A member of Tehran Chamber of Commerce said Iran’s petrochemical industry can be playing a significant role in the country’s economic and industrial prosperity.
Speaking to NIPNA, Mir Mohammad Sadeghi said the best way to wean the economy off sale of crude oil and gas is boosting production of value-added petrochemicals, adding: “Development of the petrochemical industry is the best way towards economic growth for the country.”
The businessman said export of petrochemical products has always been top on all the administrations’ agendas, adding: “Today, we have to ramp up export of petrochemicals more than ever. If we want to reduce crude oil sales, then production of petrochemical products should be further increased.”
Pointing out that Iran enjoys abundant natural gas reserves, Mr. Sadeghi further added that consumption of natural gas as petrochemical feedstock is the best way to exploit the item. “If we want to develop out country’s economy, the best way is to develop the petrochemical sector and boost export of petrochemicals.”
He further added that many countries are keen on joining petrochemical projects in Iran whether by investing in them or licensing the projects. “By bolstering our export markets, we can lure many customers into the industry.”
